Voiceover, ADR and Dubbing in Los Angeles
ZOOM is a voiceover and ADR recording studio in Los Angeles for film, television, streaming and online video. ADR, short for Automated Dialogue Replacement, is the post-production step where talent records their lines again, to replace on-set audio that picked up noise or had technical problems.
We play picture with the session, locked to the cut, so talent performs against the scene and every line stays in sync. Dubbing and localization sessions run in Spanish and Portuguese. We recommend an engineered session for ADR. The studio is easy to reach from the 10 and 101 freeways.

Remote Direction With Source-Connect
Your director or producer does not have to be in the room. Over Source-Connect they listen in real time, talk back to the talent and approve takes from anywhere. A phone patch works too.
Tell us when you book so the connection is set up before you arrive. Remote sessions run best engineered, so the engineer handles the link while you focus on the read.

Self-directed
You run the session. The room is set up and ready when you arrive: mic, Pro Tools and monitoring. You pay the room rate only.
Engineered
An engineer handles levels, monitors takes, manages the chain and delivers organized files. Best for ADR, commercial production and remote direction.
Example: a 2-hour engineered daytime session in ZOOM I is 2 hours x ($39 + $30) = $138. Prepaid packages bring the effective room rate down to $27 to $31 per hour: 16 hours for $499, 30 hours for $879, or 50 hours for $1,365.

ZOOM I is an acoustically treated room with a vocal booth. Our full-chain reading of ZOOM I room tone is about -66 dBFS RMS, which is well under the noise floor that publishers check.

What ACX asks for, and what we deliver against it.
ACX checks the technical specs before anyone judges the performance. ZOOM I runs well under the noise floor limit, so room tone is not what gets a submission bounced. - What types of voiceover projects do you record at ZOOM?
- We record commercial VO, audiobooks, ADR and dubbing, animation and character work, e-learning and corporate narration, IVR and phone system prompts, podcast narration, and social video voiceover.
- Do I need to bring a script or direction?
- Bring your script and we handle the rest. If a remote director or producer is joining, we can set up Source-Connect or a phone patch for live direction during the session.
- What microphone do you use for voiceover?
- The Neumann U87 is our primary voiceover mic, an industry standard for commercial and narration work. The Neumann TLM 103 is available as an alternative, and the Shure SM7B or another dynamic option is available for close-proximity character work.
- How long does a voiceover session take?
- A commercial or short-form session typically runs 1 to 2 hours. Audiobook chapters average 45 to 90 minutes. Book 30 minutes extra for setup, playback and file transfer. Engineered sessions have a 2-hour minimum.
- Do you meet ACX technical requirements for audiobook narration?
- Yes. The ACX checklist is 44.1 kHz, at least 16-bit, RMS from -23 to -18 dB, peaks at or under -3 dB, and a noise floor at or under -60 dB. Our full-chain reading of ZOOM I room tone is about -66 dBFS RMS. Sessions are captured at 24-bit, and files go out as ACX-ready MP3 or in the format your publisher names.
- Can a remote director listen in and direct the session?
- Yes. We support remote direction over Source-Connect. Your director can listen in real time, talk back to the talent and approve takes from anywhere. Tell us when you book so we can set it up before the session.
- What is the difference between a self-directed and an engineered session?
- Self-directed means you run the session yourself. Engineered means an engineer handles levels, monitors takes, manages the signal chain and delivers organized files. We recommend engineered sessions for ADR, commercial production and any session with a remote director.
- How much does a voiceover session cost at ZOOM?
- ZOOM I is $39 per hour for daytime sessions of any length, or $35 per hour for Mon-Wed bookings of 4+ hours or weekend bookings of 6+ hours. Night lockout from midnight to 9 am is $16 per hour Monday to Wednesday and $19 per hour Thursday to Sunday. An engineer adds $30 per hour, with a 2-hour minimum.
- Can I record voiceover in Spanish at ZOOM?
- Yes. ZOOM records bilingual and Spanish-language voiceover with engineers experienced in Spanish-language workflows. English-Spanish dubbing, original Spanish content and bilingual scripts can be handled in a single session.
- Does ZOOM record ADR and dubbing?
